Oral Health Education - First Smiles

This is a full day oral health training for Head Start and Early Head Start Teachers and Family Advocates, Home Visitors, Health component staff,
School Readiness Coordinators and other early childhood educators. The
training uses the “Cavity Free Kids” curriculum, which incorporates Head
Start Oral Health Performance Standards and has been successfully used
in Washington State Head Start programs.

The Oral Health curriculumincorporates fun and interesting activities
for children in art, science, table
toys and dramatic play, as well as
teacher directed lessons, and ideas for
parent meetings. The training
emphasizes key messages that teachers and
family advocates can
share with children and their families. Participants will
take home the
children and family curriculums, including sections for Early
Head Start
